How do I stop syncing or disconnect my OneDrive Shared Library?
There may come a time when you want to manage what folders are automatically synced to OneDrive. Or you may want to disconnect OneDrive from your computer all together. This article will explain how to do either within the Windows and Mac OS environment.
Managing which folders back up to OneDrive in Windows 11

On a Windows Computer, OneDrive should already be running. Look to your taskbar at the lower right-hand corner of your screen (next to the date and time) and click on the OneDrive Icon:

A menu will open. Select Settings.

A new window will open for OneDrive Settings. Select Account and then Choose Folders.

A list of folders will appear. Uncheck the box next to the folders that you wish to stop syncing. Check any boxes next to folders that you want included in the sync. Click OK when you are finished.

On a EWU managed Mac Computer, OneDrive should already be running. Look to your taskbar at the top right-hand corner of your screen (next to the date and time) and click on the OneDrive Icon:

A menu will open. Select Preferences.

A new window will open for OneDrive Settings. Select Account and then Choose Folders.

A list of folders will appear. Uncheck the box next to the folders that you wish to stop syncing. Check any boxes next to folders that you want included in the sync. Click OK when you are finished.

Disconnecting your OneDrive in Windows 11

A new window will open for OneDrive Settings. Select Account and then Unlink this PC.

- A confirmation window will appear. Pay special attention to the notice. It is advising that local files (files that are saved directly to your computer) will still be available. But any files located in the cloud only will no longer be viewable from the desktop version of OneDrive. To be clear, this does not remove or purge any cloud based files from OneDrive. It just means that you'll need to navigate to the web version of OneDrive to find them. Click Unlink account to finish.
