Working with Text: Headings
Headings help to introduce new sections and organize the content on the page. They make your website more readable by humans, search engines, and web accessibility devices. You can add headings in several ways, most commonly using the block inserter.
- Click the Block Inserter icon.
- Create a new paragraph and click the Heading block.
- Once the Heading is dropped into place, give it an appropriate title.
Keep in Mind
Headings communicate the organization of the content on the page. Web browsers, plug-ins, and assistive technologies can be used to provide in-page navigation. While not always possible, try to nest headings by their rank (or level). The most important heading has the rank 1 (<h1>), the least important heading rank 6 (<h6>). Headings with an equal or higher rank start a new section, and headings with a lower rank start new subsections that are part of the higher-ranked section.
NOTE: You can add headings to your content area by clicking into a new paragraph and typing /h2, /h3, /h4, /h5, or /h6 and then Enter.
