Settings - Cross-List Two Course Sections Together
Cross-Listing is a two-step process:
- First you must go copy the Course ID number from the course where you want the sections to end up - this is the "primary course"
- Second you must go to the course(s) to cross-list and paste that ID to each section you want to pull in, then choose to Cross-List them
NOTE: If you are cross-listing a course that is taught by a different instructor, you’ll need to have them invite you as a teacher in their course.
1. Go to the Home page of the primary course - the one into which you will be Cross-Listing the sections.
2. From the address bar in your browser, drag your cursor over the Course ID number to highlight it. Copy it by holding the Ctrl and C keys on a PC or Command and C keys on a Mac - then release those keys. This sends the highlighted text to your "clipboard", from which it can be pasted in step 5.

3. Now go to the Course that holds the sections you want to Cross-List back to the primary course. On the Settings screen, select the Sections tab. Do not click Add Section - instead, click on the section link to access section options.

4. Select Cross-List this Section at the right side of the screen.

5. In the Cross-List this Section popup window, paste the Course ID from the primary course into the "Or Enter the Course's ID" box. To paste, click in the that box, then hold Ctrl and V keys on a PC, Command and V keys on a Mac and release them. Tab off that field and the name of the course will appear, allowing you to verify you have selected the correct course. Click on the course name to choose it and then select Cross-List This Section to finalize the process. (If for some reason this is not the correct course, click Cancel.)

6. To verify the process was successful, go back to Settings/Sections and you will now see the Cross-Listed sections. Student enrollments will stay with their original sections, but instructors will now be able to manage all sections under one course.
