Share Canvas Content with Other Faculty
There are a couple of methods available for your to share course materials in Canvas. The first method described below is using Canvas Commons, the second is to export your course and share the download file with Google Drive or OneDrive. Both methods require the original content creator to take steps to put the content into a sharable state and the recipient to then load it into their course.
Using Canvas Commons
Canvas has an area available for instructors to share course content, it's called Commons. Access to Commons can be found in the far left global navigation. Commons allows you to share individual assignments, files, quizzes, pages, and other resources with yourself or others, but it also allows for your whole course to be sharable. Sharing with a group or team of people is a key feature of Commons, but if desired you can also share your course with the whole university. If you don't have access to a group, or department in Commons, please let us know by sending an email to instructionaltech@ewu.edu and we can set one up for you.
Using Export Course Packages
Canvas also allows you to create an export file called a course package. These files are a specific file type of IMSCC and are not intended to be opened but instead imported as is into a course. Once you download this package you can share it with others through Google Drive or OneDrive for them to then import into their own course.
