1) Open up a Microsoft document editor such as Word. (Note that the settings do not transfer between different applications. I.E. Word settings do not Transfer to Excel)
2) Once there click options in the bottom right hand corner of the page. this should open a new settings window.
3) From the settings window select 'Save' on the left-hand side. Then be sure autorecover is turned on

There are four possible ways to recover deleted or unsaved documents.
Method one: Windows recycle bin.
If you deleted the document from your files explorer on a windows device this would likely be the quickest method.
1) To begin open up your computers recycling bin. This can be done by double clicking on the Recycle Bin Icon on your desktop.
2) Once opened find and select the document you want to recover. Once selected right click on it and from the drop down menu select restore.
Once that is done the document will be restored to its original file location on your computer.
Method two: Restore file function.
This is another good method for recovering deleted files on a Windows device.
1) In the search bar at the bottom of your screen type in "restore files" and select the first option
2) Once opened select the file(s) you wish to recover and select the green recover button at the bottom of the page.
The files should then be returned to their original locations.
Method three: recover unsaved documents
This method should be available for the office applications on and pc.
1) Open up a file of the same type as the document you are attempting to recover and click the file tab in the top left hand corner.
2) Select info and then select the option "Manage Document"
3) From the drop down menu select "Recover Unsaved Documents"
In order to restore the file simply open the file like normal from the new window.
