Cisco 7941 and 7961 desk phones have a common issue of the handset hook-switch failing. What this means, is that when you answer a call via your handset the call continues to ring and is not answered. You will have to tap your hook-switch lever or put the call on speakerphone to answer the call. Both workarounds are not ideal.



SOLUTION: Put in a EWU IT help desk ticket to replace the defective device, you can do this by calling 509.359.2247 or at https://support.ewu.edu/support/home be sure to provide your building office number and desk phone number. We will replace the device with a new equivalent model. Typically this is the two line, Cisco 7821. If you need a Multi-line device, a $150 upgrade fee may apply.
