Security Awareness Training FAQs
Q. Why does EWU need security awareness training and who will participate?
A. A security awareness and training program is designed to help mitigate the risk of losing intellectual property, institutional data, and processing resources. For the program to be effective, this responsibility must be shared amongst each employee at EWU. In accordance with EWU Policy 203-01 and Washington State Policy SEC-03, all employees are required to receive annual security awareness training.
Q. When can I take the training and how long will it take?
A. You can begin your training as soon as you receive your enrollment email. The training typically takes less than 30 minutes total and does not need to be completed in one sitting. You will have 6 weeks from the enrollment date to complete the training.
Q. Is the training mandatory?
A. Yes; all EWU employees are required to take this training annually.
Q. How do new employees get enrolled in training?
A. All new employees will automatically be enrolled in the course as part of their EWU account provisioning. An enrollment notification email will be sent to the new employee.
Q. Are student employees required to take the training?
A. No. Student employees are not currently licensed for the training but may be added based on license availability.
Q. Who do I contact regarding any questions or concerns on information security or access to the training?
A. Email infosecurity@ewu.edu or contact the IT helpdesk
