FAQs & User Guides

Frequently Asked Questions and User Guides

Can I replace my device with a colleague's who is no longer using it? For example an 8841 swapped with an older 7941, 7911 or a newer 7821.

  • Yes, but there will be an upgrade fee applied if its a 7821, 7941, 7911 etc. to a 8841 since you're upgrading the line by swapping devices. Same if its a 7911, 7941 etc to a 7821.

Can I swap an upgraded phone (8841, 7821) with a different line/phone?

  • Yes, but an upgrade fee will be applied. For example: If you paid an upgrade fee for extension 1234, then cancel 1234 but want to use the newer device for 5678, you will need to pay the upgrade fee for 5678, since you just upgraded the old device for 5678. It's like getting two upgrades for the price of one. The physical phone is tied to the line, when lines are canceled devices need to be returned.

My old device is no longer functional. Can I get it replaced?

  • Of course. We will send a technician to verify the device is broken, then spin up a new one to replace it.

I have an old Cisco 7911 device with one line and no speakerphone. Can I get it replaced with a device that has an extra line and speakerphone?

  • Yes. If you currently have a Cisco 7911 we can provide a new 7821 for a $75 upgrade fee. If you want to upgrade to an 8841 a $150 upgrade fee will be applied.

Why does my colleague have a 8841 and I received a 7821?

  • The 7821 is the new standard on campus. Some users were grandfathered in before we made the change the the 7821. A user can still receive a 8841 but will need a business case and pay the upgrade fees in order to do so.

Do the phone plans include voicemail?

  • Yes, all plans include voicemail and long distance. Long distance is a optional feature and charges by the minute. (Long distance charges are $0.18/per minute)

How do I clear recent calls on my 8841?

  • Simply press the settings icon (gear icon), then press "Recents". Choose the line to clear the calls or choose "All Lines". Press "Clear list" using the appropriate button. All calls including missed will be cleared.

I will like to duplicate a line, what is the cost?

  • Duplicating a line is perfectly fine. This is when the client wishes to have one or more lines they already have on multiple phones. The charge will be a fraction of what the new device needed costs. So for the 7821 it'll be a $50 duplication fee and if a 8841 is needed a $125 duplication fee will be applied. (Have your index and budget authority ready.)

How can I call someone and leave a voicemail without ringing their phone? Basically call their voicemail box directly.

  • You can leave a direct voicemail for a user by pressing the star key twice on your keypad, then type in their extension (Ex. **1234). This should route you straight to their voicemail box. If you are experiencing issues please call the help desk at x2247.
